DWR brings modern flourish to a new residential tower in NYC.
Design Within Reach is playing a prominent supporting role at The Lindley, a new design-forward residential tower going up in New York City’s Murray Hill neighborhood. The tower, scheduled for completion in April, is 20 stories tall and contains 74 residences, ranging in size from studio to three bedrooms.
With an invitation by developer CBSK Ironstate, DWR styled and supplied furnishings in the common spaces, including the lobby and terrace.
“Each DWR piece chosen has strong lines with a pure use of material – essentially modern,” says Paula Zanger, an account executive from the DWR 57th and 3rd Studio who played a key role in The Lindley project.
The project’s branding team, Pandiscio Green, was initially inspired by vignettes from the DWR catalog and website; which was then followed by an initial design by Zanger; a presentation to The Lindley team; refinement of the design with Staci Gleasman, area manager at 57th and 3rd, and Kai Cheung of Rawlings Architects — and finally a green light.
“Design is a process!” Zanger says.
“The project was a perfect pairing of opportunity and design,” Zanger says. “A special thanks to my friend, Charles Blaichman of CB Developers, CBSK Ironstate [the coalition behind The Lindley] and the Rawlings team of architects. The like-minded sensibilities for classic icons and modern design ultimately make for sensible urban living at The Lindley.”
The Murray Hill neighborhood is in transition from a mostly residential area to a 24/7 neighborhood, offering enough restaurants, shops, services and grocery stores to meet residents’ regular needs and even aspirations. The Lindley is one of a growing number of luxury residential towers adding to the changing fabric of the neighborhood.
Among the furnishings chosen for the lobby were a Cherner Task Chair, a Grissini Bench and a Neverending Glory Pendant Lamp (The Met). The model “apartment,” a hybrid office/living space, received a Como Sectional Chaise, Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, Embody Task Chair, Bertoia Counter Stools, Line Console and Nelson Bubble Lamp. The residents’ lounge, the most extensively decorated space, was fitted with a Costura Sofa, Eames Molded Plastic Chairs, U-Turn Swivel Chair and a Bow-Tie Kilim Rug.
The Lindley, at 591 Third Ave., was designed by Rawlings Architects.
